True Sacrifice Part I

As a human living on this earth, there is nothing you can do to make God love you more, because He already loved you enough and demonstrated it by dying for you. Our scriptural focus for today states – Surely you remember that I was sick when I first brought you the Good News.  {Gal 4:13  NLT}.

It is amazing and quite challenging to see how the Apostles of old counted their lives as nothing in pursuit of the purpose of Christ here on earth. It was these selfless sacrifices, even at the expense of their own lives that the gospel was built on. There actions proved that they truly understood the words of Jesus in Matt 16:25 – If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

Apostle Paul remains the Galatian Christians of his physical illness when he first brought the good news of Jesus Christ to them. He was sick yet he continued to travel from place to place to make Christ known to the dying world of sin. He counted the gospel more valuable than his earthly life, what a challenge, what an example of faith, what record of selfless service for the Lord. For Apostle Paul, making Christ known to the world became the reason for his existence, no wonder he could go to any length to publish Christ.

Friends in today’s Christianity, these examples of faith are steering us in the face. Some of the excuses we give for which we are unable to make Christ known to the world around us may be accepted by our pastor’s, unit/arm leaders but when put side by side with the labours of the Apostles of old will it still hold water?. Apostle Paul though physically sick was still preaching, do you still go out for evangelism when you are sick or does it become an excuse to sit at home?. We truly need a change of attitude towards the gospel of Christ, and it will be important if we stop seeing the gospel as the means to a life of comfort here, but the means to a life of sacrifice here on earth.

Give your All for the Gospel.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
