Don’t just think about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and in what they are doing. {Phil 2:4  TLB}

No believer is at liberty to live for himself/herself, or his/her family alone, or to disregard the needs of others. The purpose of this, is to break up the narrow spirit of selfishness, and to produce a benevolent regard for the happiness of others. Our scriptural focus for today states – Don’t just think about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and in what they are doing. Apostle Paul wanted to build an ideal church, were individual believers are not just consumed by their personal cares and concerns alone but that the welfare of others should have a place in their hearts.
To be interested in others does not mean you should be a religious doormat for everyone to use. Some believers in the bid to make friends and maintain church unity give in to everyone’s whims and wishes, this is not the teaching in this scripture. Also note the following;
1. We are not to be Busybodies in the affairs of others.
2. We are not to impose our advice on others, especially when it is not sought for or at unreasonable times and places.
3. We are not to find faults in other peoples affairs.
4. We are not to gossip the secrets shared to us by others because we are involved in their lives. Etc
Being concerned in other peoples affairs as believers, is a genuine concern or an avenue to demonstrate the love of Christ to them with the motive of helping them become all that God wants them to be here on earth. When you do things that put smiles on the faces of others, when you help others achieve their full potentials and dreams, when you help others come out of depression and similar emotional traumas, when you discomfort yourself for the joy and happiness of other, bear in mind that you’re reflecting the true nature of God.

Be committed to others.
