As we continue our study today on sexual sins and its effect in a christian relationship, our focus today will be on Lust. Lust is an illicit sexual desire.
According to Harris, lust is wrongly directed desire. “To lust is to want what you don’t have and weren’t meant to have,” he explains. “Lust goes beyond
attraction, and appreciation of beauty, or even a healthy desire for sex—it makes these desires more important than God. Lust wants to go outside God’s
guidelines to find satisfaction.” Both singles and married people are prone to lust.

Our society has institutionalized lust, weaving the patterns of illicit sexual desire throughout the culture’s interplay of media, entertainment, status and advertising. Lust is now part and parcel of the modern vision of the good life.

Hear this – Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, {Rm 1:24  ESV}

As believers, Gods advice in 2 Tim 2:22a – Flee also youth lusts, is the only solution. The essence of lust is the enjoyment of the illicit desire, the
pleasure of temptation prolonged.

Innocent desire can turn into lust if given the slightest invitation, Be careful.

Have a Grace filled day.
