Today we continue on the series – Raising godly Children in an Ungodly World. Its no longer new that christian families are faced with systems that are hostile to Christian values, and they increasingly find themselves searching for answers and strategies to be more effective in raising their children according to Gods standard. Systems like modernism, negative effects of the internet, peer group pressure, early relationships, young people leaving home and leaving the Church and most christian parents want to ensure their children have a strong foundation of biblical faith and understanding. Follow us in this series and may the Holy Spirit give you insight.
3. Make the Word of God Your Standard
We are living in days and times that offers as many views on parenting as there are many parents. It is also important to note that some Christian parents are unconsciously raising their children based on their local traditions (how they were raised by their parents or grandparents), and some prefer to follow books written by children’s psychologist, or advice from pediatricians etc. Unfortunately, many fail to consult the book authored by the One who created the family unit and gave it as a gift to mankind. God’s Word is full of instructions about the training of children. If you don’t make it the standard in your family and the manual that is above every member of the family, raising your children in a godly way will be difficult.
Hear this – Teach a child to choose the right path, and when he is older, he will remain upon it. {Prov 22:6 TLB}. As parents, its your responsibility to teach your children the right path from the Bible.
Ensure that no one is above the Bible in your family.
