Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ. {Phil 2:5 TLB}
As believers, we are to cultivate the mindset of self-sacrificing, humility, patience and love for others. You can only achieve this mindset, if you make Christ your Role Model in Everything. Our scriptural focus for today states – Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ. It is obvious that the life of Christ on this earth many thousands of years ago has left us an example that God expects all who have come to the true knowledge of salvation to both emulate and practice. The Apostle Paul in his teachings has said so much about the virtue of Humility, and the reference to the perfect example of Christ is the best way to illustrate it.
Humility is not about humiliating oneself, nor is it about despising oneself, rather humility is a disposition of the mind that enables an individual to be egoless and modest. It is this attitude of Christ that we all who profess Christ as Lord and Saviour have been called to imbibe.
The point here for which we have been admonished to cultivate this mindset, is that Christ left the state of inexpressible glory and splendour and willingly took upon himself the most humble form of humanity in comparison to His Divinity, for the benefit of the entire human race.
My friend, God expects you to leave your comfort zone, to learn to put aside your human privileges and endowments for the purpose of doing things that will benefit others. Your mindset will determine your actions, if it is selfish – it will produce divisive and destructive actions, but if it is selfless – it will produce good and generational impact/influence.
Learn to build legacies that will outlive you.
