Victory Over Sin Part I

Beloved peace in life is not the absence of difficult and challenging situations, rather it is the absence of Christ who is the Prince of Peace in a human life. Our scriptural focus for today states – Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. {Gal 5:24  NLT}

The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul explains the mystery behind the victory of humans over sin and the devil. He states that the believer is identified with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. It is revealing to know that Christ did not only died for the believer, but the believer equally died with Christ.

Christ died for the believer to permanently take away the penalty/punishment for sin which is eternal destruction, but the believer died with Christ to permanently break the power of sin over his/her life while on this earth in order to appropriate the victory won by Christ through His death and resurrection in his/her everyday life.

Christ has never asked believers to crucify themselves, because it is impossible. Note that crucifixion is one death a human cannot inflict on himself/herself, rather He brings to our notice that the flesh has already been crucified. It is now the personal responsibility of every believer in Christ to believe this finished work of Christ and live daily on the basis of this revelation.

We belong to Christ by accepting that He(Christ) took our place in death to satisfy the anger of God over sin and sinners once and for all. To belong to a church and be a very active member both financially and in service does not make a human belong to Christ. To enjoy the benefits of resurrection, one must personally address the subject of Belonging to Christ and not to a physical church.

Do you belong to Christ through spiritual birth.

Have a Grace filled day – Good news awaits you.
