So I am all the more anxious to send him back to you, for I know you will be glad to see him, and then I will not be so worried about you. {Phil 2:28 NLT}
What a tragedy it will be and a great abuse of divine purpose for any believer, whom Christ has invested so much in, to go through life on this earth, without being a blessing to anyone. The life of a believer is actually defined by how much we are a blessing to the world around us. Our scriptural focus for today states – So I am all the more anxious to send him back to you, for I know you will be glad to see him, and then I will not be so worried about you.
Apostle Paul had the best interest of both the Philippian church and his co-labourer, Epaphroditus at heart. Apostle Paul demonstrated that he has Learnt from the example of Christ, by putting his personal comfort aside, when he decided to send Epaphroditus back to his brethren in philippi. This level of selflessness and responsibility is greatly needed in the church today. Our goal as a church or body of believers should be to raise a generation of godly people that will be known for selfless service and a high sense of responsibility in and outside the church.
Apostle Paul’s selfless action was based on two important reasons;
1. He wanted the Philippian church to be glad on seeing Epaphroditus who they thought was dead or in very terrible heath condition.
2. That will equally make for Apostle Paul’s joy and lighten his burden.
Definitely, Apostle Paul was going to miss him because of the great support he was to him during his stay in Rome, he was also a blessing to his brethren in Philippi and as such they equally missed him in the church. This is Christian in it’s purest sense, filled with so much love and care for one another. This is what Christ died to give the world – A set of people bound together in love and care far beyond the world’s definition and practice.
