Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. {Eph 6:17 NLT}
The word of God as contained in the Scriptures, and not your personal opinion, feeling or knowledge, is your offensive weapon against every trick or strategy of the devil. Our scriptural focus for today states – And take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. {Eph 6:17b NLT}. The spiritual sword of the believer is the Word of God. The phrase – Take the sword of the spirit, establishes that it is your personal responsibility to both study and know the scriptures, not by the letters or having a head knowledge of the scriptures, but knowing the bible through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. The word of God becomes a spiritual weapon for you only when you know and receive it by Revelation. Knowing the Bible just by the letters or head knowledge is like taking a blunt knife to the farm, you will require more physical strength, you’re likely to inflict injuries on yourself and will not accomplish your purpose at the end. This will be the experience of any believer that keeps engaging in spiritual warfare with head knowledge of the scriptures alone. Following the ultimate example of Jesus during His own spiritual warfare, each trick of the devil was given the same answer – It is written. His answer was based solely on revelational knowledge of the scriptures and not on head knowledge. When you face any spiritual warfare, instead of speaking your feelings, or opinions occasioned by the unpleasant situation the devil is trying to create around you, speak the word of God you have known by Revelation, and you will always be victorious.
It is Revelation that opens the Bible to you, to become a spiritual weapon in your mouth.
