Don’t Mutilate Your Christianity Part I

Beloved no matter how uncertain the situations of life become here on earth, never allow fear decide your future, rather always allow faith decide your future. Our scriptural focus for today states – I just wish that those troublemakers who want to mutilate you by circumcision would mutilate themselves. {Gal 5:12  NLT}
Apostle Paul describes circumcision in this context as an act of mutilation. To circumcise adults can be best described as an act of physically destroying the part of that body that is been circumcised. These Galatian Christians were already adults and these Jewish traditionalists were still demanding them to go through the horrible process of circumcision in order to be saved. Again Apostle Paul’s description of circumcision as a mere mutilation of the human body, was based on the fact that the death and resurrection of Christ that brought about the dispensation of Grace has abolished circumcision as a covenant requirement for salvation.
Because circumcision has lost its spiritual relevance in God’s scheme of things and has now become a medical requirement for new born male children, Apostle Paul declares – I just wish that those troublemakers who want to mutilate the Galatian Christians through circumcision, would mutilate themselves.
There are things like circumcision that lost its spiritual relevance by the death and resurrection of Christ, and as God’s children begotten under Grace it is important we look out for such practices and ensure that we do not engage in them no matter who is preaching it. Bear in mind that it is not the class/popularity of a preacher that validates a message, rather it is the Holy Spirit and the truth been preached by a preacher that validates his/her message.

Do not allow anyone drag you into practices that has been abolished by grace.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
