Thinking Worthy Thoughts
Part I
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. {Phil 4:8}
The goal of biblical discipleship is to reestablish the image of God in the lives of believers, which the entire human race lost when Adam and Eve sinned in the beginning. Our scriptural focus for today states – And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. We must realize that thoughts are real and very powerful, and to a large extent determines our actions and behaviors, even though they cannot be seen, touched, weighed, or measured.
If you desire to be a successful believer in all things, then you must by the help of the Holy Spirit, train yourself to master the use of your Thoughts. One of the ways to do that is to ensure that our thoughts are in conformity with the scriptures at all times and in any circumstance.
As Apostle Paul concludes this section, the Holy Spirit highlights Six very important components that should reflect a wholesome thought life for believers and they are:
1. True – This is of course the opposite of lying, dishonest and unreliable attitudes. The Holy Spirit guards the mind/heart of the believer by supplying the ability to always think the Truth and put it into action, but whenever you think and believe a lie, the devil has taken control of your life.
2. Honorable/Noble – This refers to thoughts that are dignifying and worthy of respect and emulation. There are many things that are not honourable or respectable and believers should not think or be involved in them. Never allow dishonorable things to control your thoughts or else you will find yourself doing them.
Wrong thinking leads to wrong actions.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
