We continue on the series – Raising godly Children in an Ungodly World. Its no longer news that christian families are faced with systems that are hostile to Christian values. The desire of most parents is to ensure that their children have a strong foundation of biblical faith. Follow us in this series and may the Holy Spirit give you insight.

8. Train Your Children

Ephesians 6:1-3 commands children to do two things – To Obey and Honor their parents. The Bible promises a twofold blessing to those children who keep these two commands – Things will go well for such children and they will enjoy long life. The flip side is that parents must realize they are on a rescue mission to train their children in order to achieve Gods best for that child. That is, parents must instruct their children so that they can remain under God’s umbrella of blessing.

Do not leave the training of your children in the hands of a maid, an uncle or aunty, their school teacher or their sunday school teacher etc, take the lead and be actively involved in the training of your children.

A change in behavior that does not stem from a change in heart is not commendable; it is condemnable.

The child’s heart is the world’s smallest battleground, and conquering it requires the cooperation of both parents.

As you train the child’s heart, it is important to keep these verses in mind:

Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. Proverbs 13:24

Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. Proverbs 22:15

Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from hell. Proverbs 23:13-14.

Train your child now and enjoy in the future

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
