Honor your father and mother. This is the first of God’s Ten Commandments that ends with a promise. {Eph 6:2 TLB}
The bible has conferred some responsibilities on the children, and the ounce is on every godly child to do their best under God to carry out these responsibilities towards their parents. Our scriptural focus for today states – Honour your father and mother, This is the first of God’s Ten commandments that ends with a promise. Honouring your father and mother goes way beyond obedience. To honour means – To think of highly, to respect highly, to recognise the importance or spiritual value of someone to your life. The bible has asked every godly child to place this level of value, or even more on their parents. Honouring your parents is not determined by how they treated you while you were living with them, or how they are treating you now if you’re still living with them, it will be important to note that this is a divine instruction from God. Secondly, it is the first of God’s Ten commandments that ends with a promise, and it states – “Honor your father and mother, that you may have a long, good life in the land the Lord your God will give you. {Ex 20:12 TLB}. So Gods promise to any godly child who will honour his/her parents includes;
1. Longevity on this earth
2. A good and prosperous life on this earth
These two promises, can be said to be a sum total of most of the prayer points, desires, and expectations of believers on the earth today, its already God’s promise to you, so reach out and have it.
The Promise is the basis for a blessed life.
