Thinking Worthy Thoughts Part II
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. {Phil 4:8 NLT}
It is obvious that wrong thinking leads to wrong feeling and will produce wrong actions, and before long the heart and mind are torn apart and the individual is strangled by worry and anxiety. Our scriptural focus for today states – And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
It is an established fact of human life that when you sow a thought, you will reap an action, and when you sow that action, you will reap a habit, and when you sow that habit, you will reap a character, and when you sow that character, you will reap your destiny. This truth should encourage every believer to think not just positive thoughts but to build their lives on thoughts that are Bible based.
Let’s consider some of the components of a heathy thought life as highlighted by the Holy Spirit in this scriptures;
3. Right – This refers to thoughts/actions that are in conformity with God’s standards, and also things that a right between a believer and his/her fellow human. If you must present Christ and not religion to the world around you, it is indispensable that you showcase uncorrupted integrity in your day to day dealings with anyone that comes in contact with you.
4. Pure – This refers to thoughts that a wholesome and not mixed with moral impurities. It is important to emphasis that believers should be Chaste in their thoughts, in their emotional feelings and in their conversation especially with the opposite sex.
In our generation, there is a great departure from the godly virtue of Purity of heart and purpose, believers should not be caught in this web, rather let’s so shine the Light of righteousness around us, that men cannot deny seeing our good works in Christ.
