The preaching of the undiluted word of God by believers at any cost is one of the greatest ways to demonstrate to Christ the extent of our love for Him. Our scriptural focus for today states – They preach because they love me, for they know I have been appointed to defend the Good News. The subject of the right motive for preaching the gospel became a serious issue during apostle Paul’s imprisonment. Those who were preaching with the right motive of love for both Apostle Paul and Christ, did that having recognized the true reason for Paul’s imprisonment. Based on their discovery of the truth, they were willing to take the same bold stand that Apostle Paul took, damning the consequences.
As believers, our discovery of the truth about Christ and the essence of the gospel to this world, should be the motivating factor to preach the gospel. Your resolve to stand for the gospel of Christ wherever you find yourself, irrespective of the obvious consequences, should be born out of genuine love for Christ, His church here on earth and the dying world around you. Like apostle Paul, you must establish this conviction in your heart that Christ has appointed you to defend the gospel here on earth. There is a great need more than ever for believers to arise and defend the truth of the gospel that was delivered to us, especially within the church, because some people have crept into the church whose motive is to distort the message of Christ.
Defend the gospel because you love Christ.
