Watch out for those dogs, those people who do evil, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. {Phil 3:2 NLT}
The mixing of the principles of the law with the principles of grace in order to achieve an acceptable Christian lifestyle in this generation, is the greatest mutilation of the death and resurrection of Christ. Our scriptural focus for today states – Watch out for those dogs, those people who do evil, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. The emphasis of Apostle Paul in this passage was meant to safeguard the faith of the Philippian believers and future believers.
This passage equally lays a huge responsibility on all who teach/preach the gospel of grace to be careful not to mix it with the principles of the law that the death and resurrection of Christ has abolished. Salvation is not and cannot be by any act of human effort. The doctrine of circumcision was an outward sign of a future inward grace that will be established by Christ. To keep emphasizing such practices as the basis to get Gods approval, is simply misleading the church.
The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul refers to those ministers of the gospel who are mixing the law and grace as – Dogs, Evildoers and Mutilators. There is a lot of confusion in the church today because of this mixing of the gospel. Some gullible believers have abandoned through Christian faith that is based solely on the work of grace and have followed after these false and misleading teachings that appeals only to the flesh. We have a mixed multitude church today, because unbelievers have been attracted into the church by these false teachings that do not offer Salvation to them.
The warning is – Be careful of what you believe and practice as a believer, let the work of Christ be the basis for all you do as a believer.
Salvation is free because Christ did it all.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
