Following godly Examples Part III
For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. {Phil 3:18 NLT}
Striving for perfection as a believer through the provisions of the law while under grace, will leave you drained and discouraged. The victory of Christ over sin made the road to perfection an easy one for anyone who will dare to depend on Him. Our scriptural focus for today states – For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ.
There is no practice, whether good or bad we see today in the body of Christ that just started. Apostle Paul was a man that loved the brethren and wanted to ensure that their following Christ was not in vein, no wonder he puts the brethren on Red Alert concerning those he called ‘Enemies of the Cross of Christ.
Bear in mind that these people he calls enemies of the cross of Christ are not those who are outright unbelievers, but these person’s are in church with them but their purpose or focus is totally different from that of Christ.
The enemies of the cross of Christ are person’s who present themselves as been born again, but they are not. They are person’s who preach and teach messages that magnifies the law, sin and its consequences over and above the saving message of grace which the cross of Christ represents. They are person’s who live hypocritical/double lifestyles, such that who they are in church is totally different from who they are outside the church.
The Holy Spirit is putting you on Red Alert concerning such person’s and He is saying have nothing to do with such individuals, if your purpose is to be like Christ and showcase Him to the world around you.
Be true to the Cross of Christ.
