We have been on this series for seven Saturday’s running – Tips for maintaining sexual integrity as believers. We have maintained that sexual integrity is basically about faithfulness to the marriage covenant for married people or purity in relationship for engaged people.
Tip 8: GET LOVE
“I’ve been looking for love in all the wrong places”, an old song laments. The sexual sin you’re drawn towards may indeed be a cheap (though intense) substitute for love. The urge to either love someone or be loved if not properly guided can lead to inferiority complex and insecurity. Most of the sexual sins are rooted in insecurity and the search of true love in all the wrong places, but you can repent of that sin today. You can get true love in your life: friendships, family, spouse, fellow believers. A man who truly loves, and knows he’s truly loved, is far less likely to search for what he already has in places he’ll never find it. Convince yourself that in Christ you have true and enduring love, because that is the key to living a secure life on earth.
Hear this – Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. (Isaiah 55:2 NLT) Learn to be intimate and authentic with Christ. It’s one of the best ways to protect your heart and your integrity.
