The Supremacy Of Christ Part III
Beloved, never get weary or give up in doing good works because you love the Lord, surely He will reward you both here on earth and in eternity with Him. Our scriptural focus for today states – Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. {Col 1:18 NLT}
The church that is talked about in the new testament is not a physical building no matter how beautiful or magnificent the building may appear. The church in the new testament is the gathering of believers in Christ with the sole purpose of worshiping and honouring God through Christ. It is this gathering of believers who have had the salvation experience and who daily walk in righteousness that Christ superintends over as the Head. The Bible never referred to Christ as one of the heads of the church, rather it declares – Christ is also the head of the Church, which is His body. The Church is described as the Body of Christ, so as you have sole authority and headship over your own physical body so does Christ have sole headship over His Body the church.
Therefore we must be careful as ministers in the Body of Christ not to in anyway assume headship of the church and control it in such a way that it becomes our personal property, likewise those who serve in various capacities as members of the Body of Christ, should not look unto or serve their pastors or leaders in ways that project such individuals as the head of the church. This is one of the strategies of the devil to lead humans unknowingly into rebellion.
His headship over the Church is not subject to human election.
Have a Grace filled day – Good news awaits you.
