Following godly Examples IV

Their future is eternal loss, for their god is their appetite: they are proud of what they should be ashamed of; and all they think about is this life here on earth. {Phil 3:19 TLB}

True righteousness can only be received by deliberately abandoning one’s own human efforts and turning in Faith to Jesus Christ. Because of humanity’s sinfulness, true righteousness can only be a gift and will never be an achievement. Our scriptural focus for today states – Their future is eternal loss, for their god is their appetite: they are proud of what they should be ashamed of; and all they think about is this life here on earth. When persons who claims to be  believers continuously exhibits characters that oppose the course of Christ here on earth, the Holy Spirit says that such individuals are not just enemies of the cross of Christ but are also setting themselves up for eternal destruction.
If currently your lifestyle is not in arrangement with the values and principles of Christ, its obvious you have chosen a path that will eventually lead you to eternal loss. If the Gospel you are preaching as a leader in the body of Christ is based primarily on meeting your needs/appetite or the gospel you only practice as a believer is such that is focused on giving you the best of this world at the expense of your eternal future, know it that you’re trading on a slippery path.
To make one’s appetite/stomach a god, simply means putting the satisfaction of your human needs over and above God, such that everything you do is only aimed at meeting your needs first. The gospel of needs has overtaken the church to the point that one is tempted to ask – Did Jesus go through all that pain and shame just to be satisfying human daily needs?. If you’re already engulfed in this, that you’re still alive offers you the opportunity to truly repent and turn to God.

Don’t allow your appetite take the place of God in your Life.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
