Purpose Driven Work Part V
The purpose of godly service is mainly to add value to the lives of the people we are privileged to serve at any level. Our scriptural focus for today states – Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah). {Col 3:24 Amp}
No doubt, we have earthly masters in our different paid employments, but it will be important to understand that as believers, God is our true and actual employer. This every believer should know with all certainty. Having this understanding that the Lord is your true and actual employer will definitely change your attitude to your work.
When you begin to see God as your true and actual employer, it will help you take your eyes away from men or your earthly master as the source of your blessing. The quest to be promoted at work can pressure humans to do unspeakable things but this oft not to be so for the believer in Christ, because our reward (inheritance) comes only from God and not from men. Therefore it is important we make Christ Jesus the object of our service whether at our paid employment or in the church, because He is the true rewarder.
Don’t lose sight of the fact that your reward comes only from God.
