Deception Exposed Part I
The real spiritual warfare takes place in the mind/heart of every human. If you allow the devil defeat you in your thoughts, you have truly lost. Learn to set your mind on victory always. Our scriptural focus for today states – Those false teachers are so eager to win your favor, but their intentions are not good. They are trying to shut you off from me so that you will pay attention only to them. {Gal 4:17 NLT}
Apostle Paul knows that the devil who works true these false teachers will go to any length to destroy the truth in the lives of the Galatian Christians. He warns them of the true purpose of these people who turn the truth of the gospel into a lie. One of the purposes of the devil is to deceitfully gain the favour/trust of Christians, therefore he(the devil) is willing through his servants (the false teachers) to do anything to achieve it. They are not doing all these things for the good of the Christians but to set them up for destruction. Because their intentions towards the Galatian Christians are not good, they are also doing everything to shed the Galatian Christians from having access to Apostle Paul, thereby denying them the opportunity to keep hearing the truth.
These false teachers will even go to the extent of blackmailing Apostle Paul in order to achieve their aim.
The situation Apostle Paul describes in this passage, is not different from what the church is currently going through. The over emphasis on miracles, breakthroughs and a comfortable life here on earth has opened the door of the church to the devil and his servants. Who have come in with all manner of magic and false teachings to deceitfully gain the favour of Christians and keep them away from the truth. The times we live in require a lot of carefulness on the part of any one who truly is a Christian and desires to spend eternity with Christ.
