The New Life Realities Part VIII
Beloved it is your personal responsibility to daily discipline yourself to conform to the image of Christ through the help of the Holy Spirit. Our scriptural focus for today states – So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. {Col 3:5 NLT}
The sinful nature is described as something trying to lurk within, which means that the sinful nature wants to remain concealed in order to ambush the believer into practices that will destroy his/her faith in Christ. It will be important to establish that once you recieve Christ into your life, the sinful nature is no longer inside your spirit, because the Holy Spirit has taken over your spirit and two opposite spirit’s cannot inhabit one human life at the same time.
The sinful nature is a spirit which cannot be seen with the human eyes, so it can lurk around the human mind, which is the actual spiritual battlefield. It is important to emphasize that it is your personal responsibility to know how to engage the Holy Spirit to always discern the sinful nature since we cannot see it with our physical eye’s.
Engage the Holy Spirit to always discern the sinful nature and remain victorious.
