For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort. {Phil 3:3 NLT}
The flesh as stated in the scriptures is not our physical human body, because we all need it in good condition to house the Spirit, rather the flesh from the scriptural point of view is any thought pattern or spiritual interference in the human mind/heart by the devil that produces behaviours that oppose righteousness. Our scriptural focus for today states – We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort.
The popular religious philosophy – ‘The Lord or heaven helps those who help themselves’, was also a popular belief system in Apostle Paul’s day, and it is just as wrong today as it was then because it emanated from the devil.
As believers, the bible is clear on this subject that our confidence is not and cannot be in our human effort/the flesh, because it is a huge embarrassment to the work of Christ, yet most people today depend on their human efforts or practice Christianity that is based on human works as a means of pleasing God. Putting your confidence in your human efforts in order to achieve spiritual heights, will definitely profit you nothing.
The only acceptable way to please God and daily enjoy the benefits of Salvation is when we as believers solely put our confidence in the finished work of Christ for us. The final words of Christ on the cross was – ‘It is Finished’. His death satisfied the anger of God towards humans once and for all, His death made divine healing, prosperity, protection, wisdom, longevity, etc available to all humans who will dare to put their confidence in Him. Let all your service and devotion to God and your desire to enjoy the best of life here on earth be solely based on the finished work of Christ and not on your personal connections or other human efforts.
The finished work of Christ is your gateway to the best of God.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
