True Christianity Part IV
Beloved, Your faith in Christ Jesus is your expression of trust in God, while your lifestyle of faithfulness is bringing God to trusting in you. Our scriptural focus for today states – Which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. {Col 1:5 NLT}
The exceptional faith and love that was manifested by the Colossian brethren, which Apostle Paul was commending them for was not based on any physical or material hope or achievement, rather it was rooted in their ‘Confident hope of what God has reserved for them in heaven.
My beloved be reminded that the Christlike Faith is based solely on the finished work of Christ on the cross, while the Christlike Love works in the present towards others and the Hope of our salvation anticipates the future of God’s promise beyond this world.
The beauty of this world and all of its riches is nothing compared to what God has reserved for all who have come to love and build a personal relationship with Him in Christ. Consider this – That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. {1 Cor 2:9 NLT}.
If you build your faith and hope on the physical and material riches of this world which do not have a permanent owner, you will be putting your life on the risk of losing a beautiful life of eternity with God. The faith, love and hope of the Colossian brethren were built on the true riches that God has reserved for them in heaven, but note it is not for them alone but for all who equally build their own Faith, Love and Hope on the true riches in heaven.
