Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. {Eph 6:4 NLT}

God has placed great importance on the family, this has also informed His instructions to the different units that make up the family. His intention is to through believers build strong and viable families across the world. Our anchor scripture for today says – Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. The word father as used in our anchor scripture refers to both father and mother. That you are there biological and spiritual parents, does not give you the license to treat your children badly. It is also a proven fact that parents have the tendency to overreact, or sometimes be insensitive to the emotions of their children. God expects parents to always value and treat their children well, for by so doing you will succeed in making your children your close friends. It will be important to state that the bible has not exempted your children from correction when they do the wrong things, but parents must learn to correct their children in love and not in anger/bitterness. Lets consider the following actions and more by parents that can provoke their children;
1. Abusing your children verbally
2. Always calling your children bad names.
3. Excessive flogging
4. Still treating them like babies, when they have become either teenagers or young adults.
5. When you don’t value their opinion
6. When you insist on having your way always in decisions that concerns their future.
As parents, it is your responsibility to treat your children well, because the more you treat them badly and provoke them to anger, the more your are losing them to the devil and their peeps.

Treat them well and win their love and confidence.
