The Purpose Of Good Works Part II
Beloved, do not take the people that love you for granted, to be genuinely loved by another human can only be a wonderful gift from God. Our scriptural focus for today states – Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. {Gal 6:10 NLT}
As believers, we don’t do good works to be seen and celebrated by men, because Christ says if that is our aim then we have received our reward already, rather we engage in good works to demonstrate the love of Christ to this world that the devil has demonstrated a lot of wickedness in and equally to advance the kingdom of God.
As we do good to all men, we must equally give priority to the household of faith. Apostle Paul called the attention of other believers to this matter of caring for the needs of their fellow believers, because in his days many believers in Christ suffered because of their faith in Christ and needed to be cared for as a means of encouraging their faith and stabilizing their spiritual relationship with God.
The persecutions of our day may not be the same as that of Apostle Paul’s days, but believers in Christ also suffer for their faith and we need to stand by such people and be the source of encouragement to them. Let’s truly utilize the opportunities that come our way to extend the love and kindness of Christ to other believers. Always remember that Christ cannot come down to earth today to do good works by Himself, rather He wants to do such good works through the lives of believers.
Christ gives us opportunities to showcase His love.
