The New Life Realities Part X
Beloved the manifestations of the sinful nature mentioned in our scriptural focus are not the only acts of sin but they can be likened to the connecting link to other acts of sin. Our scriptural focus for today states – So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. {Col 3:5 NLT}
When the Holy Spirit says – Have nothing to do with the manifestations of the sinful nature, it is a choice you must make as a child of God under the new covenant with Christ. It equally means do not give room to the devil in anyway to again access to your spirit man, thereby influencing you.
The Holy Spirit again gives this warning – Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Greed is a selfish or excessive desire for more than is needed or deserved, especially of money, wealth, food or other material possessions. The principle in today’s study is not a condamination again living a comfortable life here on earth but a warning against living just for more and more of earthly possessions. When what drives you daily is to achieve the best of this life for yourself alone, then you are on the path of worshiping the things of this world and not God.
Don’t allow greed make you an idol worshiper before God.
