Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. {Eph 6:4 NLT}
Instead of provoking your children to anger and losing them to the world, the devil, or their peeps, it will be great to first understand your role as a parent in the life of your children and trust the Holy Spirit to help you fulfill them. Our scriptural focus for today states – Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. If you allow the school teachers, home videos, house maid’s, the internet/social media’s etc, to train your children for your, you may discover that they have succeeded in raising a generation that does not know God. One of the many purposes of a godly marriage is to raise godly children for Christ on this earth. It is the primary responsibility of parents to raise your children not according to this world’s system, but according to the discipline and instruction of the scriptures. If you must raise your children according to the discipline and instruction of the scriptures, then you as a parent must give yourself to knowing and practicing the instructions of the scriptures before your children. Your children are your future, the future of the gospel of Christ, and the world at large. When you raise your children according to the instructions of the scriptures, you’re not only preserving the next generation from decay, you’re also making the world a better place for Christ.
Hear this – Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. {Prov 22:6 NLT}
