Products Of The Sinful Nature Part V
The fulfilment of the glorious destiny Christ offers you here on earth is not at the mercy of the devil, rather it is at the mercy of your total obedience to God’s instructions for your life. Our scriptural focus for today states – Envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. {Gal 5:21 NLT}
Today we concluded our study on the third category of the manifestations of the sinful nature as seen in the lives of humans which can be regarded as Social sins/vices. There is a false assurance of salvation in practice today that is not based on the scriptures. The fact that the believer in Christ is not under the law but under grace is not a license to live carelessly.
Envy means the harbouring of grudges, or a wrongful desire to possess what belongs to someone else. Drunkenness and orgies are two manifestations of the sinful nature that is associated with alcohol. Drunkenness is the root cause of some social vices that is destroying our society. Thus the sinful nature is seen to be responsible for the breakdown of interpersonal relationships in homes, churches, office and in public society.
The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul solemnly warned the Galatian Christians and all who will believe in Christ that those who allow the sinful nature to influence and determine their character/lifestyle will not inherit the future kingdom of God. This does not mean that a believer in Christ loses his/her salvation if he/she mistakenly falls into sin, but the emphasis here is for believers in Christ who have allowed the devil to deceive them into living a habitual sinful life. If a human continuously lives on this level of moral and fleshly corruption, it is an evidence that such a person irrespective of what he/she claims to be in the church, is not a child of God.
Don’t be a habitual sinner, rather be a habitual righteous person.
