The Same Gospel Part I
Beloved, Christianity is all about Divine power because it establishes continuous progress and guarantees generational exploits. Our scriptural focus for today states – This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. {Col 1:6 NLT}
The emphasis of Apostle Paul in this epistle to the Colossian Christians among other things is the preeminence of Jesus Christ and He is truly preeminent in the gospel message. He brings to their knowledge that it is the same gospel that came to them, that him and the other labourers in Christ are taking to the whole world.
Dr Walter Wilson of Kansa City, had a unique way of making old truths seem new and exciting. He once asked this question – If you were to give a gift that would be suitable for the whole world, what would you give? He listed several possibilities and showed how those gifts would not be suitable to everybody: 1, Books (there are people who cannot read), 2. Food (people eat different things in different parts of the world), 3. Clothing (climates are different), 4. Money (the use of money is different in different countries) etc. He came to this all important conclusion – That only the Gospel, with its gift of eternal life will always be suitable for the whole world irrespective of the differences we share on this earth.
Beloved the greatest asset Christ has given us is the Gospel and He expects us to take it to the whole world. Most importantly it is the same Gospel.
The gospel is the only change agent the world needs.
