The Secret of Contentment Part IV
I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. {Phil 4:12 NLT}
It is a special act of the grace that Christ supplies, to adapt ourselves to every condition life throws at us as believers, and carry an equal temper of mind through all the varieties of our state. Our scriptural focus for today states – I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul was saying to the Philippian brethren who may have been going through some very challenging time in their lives – I have passed through all this states; I have learnt how to conduct myself in each of them, and how to extract good from all of them.
Do not be part of those who claim to be believers and are always in prayer when they are going through difficult situations and when prosperity comes they become complacent, not needing God.
Apostle Paul had learnt the lesson/secret of contentment, so changing circumstances never affected the inner contentment he enjoy. The word content means self-sufficient, but Apostle Paul uses it to refer to divinely bestowed sufficiency, whatever the situation maybe.
Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to teach you how to live in the valley and how to live on top of the mountain. We are not to celebrate difficult situations as though righteousness depends on them, nor should it be viewed as a punishment for sin. The interest of the Holy Spirit is to bring you to the point were you have learnt how to cope with almost nothing and plenty.
Needs or abundance should not determine your mode.
Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
