Children of Promise Part III

Faith in Christ does not mean trusting God to stop the storms of life from coming our way, rather it means trusting God to give us divine strength as we go through the storms of life. Our scriptural focus for today states – But what do the Scriptures say about that? “Get rid of the slave and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the free woman’s son. {Gal 4:30  NLT}
The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul compares the action father Abraham took to sanitize his family, to the obligation of believers in Christ towards false teachers and their false doctrines. When Sarah noticed Ismael and his mother Hagar mocking Isaac, she asked Abraham to cast them out, lest Ismael becomes a joint heir with Isaac the son of promise. Although it was a very difficult decision for Abraham to arrive at considering that Ishmael was his first born even though it was not in accordance to God’s promise. The position Sarah took in insisting that the slave and her son must leave may appear to be a wicked/selfish one before the eyes of many, bearing in mind that she was also the brain behind the birth of Ismael, but yet at this point that was the position of God.
Beloved, when you have the rear privilege to correct a wrong decision that was never intended to be as touching God’s purpose for your life, don’t be emotional about it, don’t also look for the human opinion rather follow God’s position. Ishmael represented the law, while Isaac represented grace, it will be important to state that there is a fundamental incompatibility between the law which is a religion based on works/human efforts and grace which is God’s kind of life based on faith.
Beloved its time to get ride of whatever represents Ishmael (the law) in your life because keeping it will deny you the promise/inheritance in Christ, but getting rid of it will establish you in grace and position you as a heir to the promise/inheritance in Christ.

Get rid of the law and embrace grace.

Have a grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
