The Same Gospel Part II
Beloved, when we meet Jesus Christ at the end of our earthly pilgrimage, what will matter most is not who started first but who finished well. Our scriptural focus for today states – This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. {Col 1:6 NLT}
It will be important to emphasize that the gift of the Gospel to the world by Christ is the greatest possession we have and ensuring that the whole world gets this gift of inestimable value is our greatest task. Secondly it is the same gospel, it has remained the same from the days of Apostle Peter to this present generation and will remain the same till Christ comes.
Apostle Paul celebrates with the Colossian brethren the profit that is being made in the gospel, he declares – It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives. The Sole aim of the gospel is to change human lives from a state of living that is battered by sin and the devil to a new state of living that is glorified by righteousness through Christ. This is the beauty of the Gospel, the ability to change a sinner into a saint. Remember that it is only the gospel that can truly change lives and bring humans back to the state of Grace.
Apostle Paul was truly excited to say that – The Gospel is bearing fruit and that’s our assignment. Hear the words of Christ – You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. {Jn 15:16 NLT}.
The fruit of the Gospel is in changed lives.
