True Citizenship II

But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. {Phil 3:20  NLT}

Loyalty is reverence for a superior authority, and not mere submission to the law. Some people may be obedient for fear of punishment, but a loyal person will not think of a penalty to escape from while obeying the superior authority. Our scriptural focus for today states – And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. The Philippians had the privilege of been Roman citizens, even though they were not physically residing in Rome. Having this privilege was the greatest protection of every Roman. In the same vein, the privilege of having the citizenship of heaven is the greatest protection of every believer on this earth.
Being a citizen of heaven and the expectation of Christ return as a Saviour influenced the person of Apostle Paul, no wonder it pained him that there were believers who have become unmindful of their heavenly character, making them dishonour themselves with earthly pursuits and casting contempt on their citizenship.
As a believer, are you still in expectation of Christ return to save you finally from this world of sin, or have you lost your expectation due to the deceitfulness of sin and the pursuit of worldly satisfactions?. Please note that the greatest task of the devil on earth today is to lure believers away from their expectation of the return of Christ, by filling their hearts/minds with many distractions, which are referred to as the Problems of Life. Your citizenship of heaven becomes null and void, if you stop eagerly awaiting the return of Christ as your Saviour, because your expectation of the return of Christ is what energies you to live Righteously here on earth, but if that expectation is gone, living in sin becomes the order of the day.

Don’t cast away your expectation of the return of Christ.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you.
