This letter is from Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus. I am writing to all of God’s holy people in Philippi who belong to Christ Jesus, including the elders and deacons. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. {Phil 1: 1 – 2  NLT}

The mention of the senders and receivers of this letter, establishes clearly that it was written to the Christian community in philippi and by extension, to all believers on earth. Our scriptural focus for today states – This letter is from Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus. I am writing to all of God’s holy people in Philippi who belong to Christ Jesus, including the elders and deacons. Apostle Paul addressing himself and his son in the gospel Timothy as slaves/servants of Christ Jesus speaks volume. A slave/servant can be seen from two perspectives;
1. Someone who was bought with a price and completely belongs to his/her master, with no option of leaving his/her master.
2. Someone who out of his/her own free will, chooses to serve another person as his/her master, and can also leave if the conditions become unfavourable.
From the experience of Apostle Paul and Timothy, they are servants of Christ, not just because they have the privilege to preach the gospel but because they have understood that Christ bought them with a price, for which they are completely and eternally His.
As a believer, are you a slave/servant of Christ because you have the privilege to preach/evangelize or are you a slave/servant because you understand that Christ bought you with a price and as such owns you. Whatever be the position/title you have in church will amount to a waste of time and effort, if you don’t first understand that – Am in this position/title because I Belong To Christ. Having the mindset that – I don’t own myself – I Belong to Christ will help you live the life of Christ on this earth.

Am a slave of Christ because He paid in full for my eternal freedom.

Have a Grace filled day – Good News awaits you
