After supper he gave them another glass of wine, saying, “This wine is the token of God’s new agreement to save you—an agreement sealed with the blood I shall pour out to purchase back your souls. 21 But here at this table, sitting among us as a friend, is the man who will betray me. 22 I must die. It is part of God’s plan. But, oh, the horror awaiting that man who betrays me.”

23 Then the disciples wondered among themselves which of them would ever do such a thing.

24 And they began to argue among themselves as to who would have the highest rank in the coming Kingdom.

25 Jesus told them, “In this world the kings and great men order their slaves around, and the slaves have no choice but to like it! 26 But among you, the one who serves you best will be your leader. 27 Out in the world the master sits at the table and is served by his servants. But not here! For I am your servant. [Luke 22: 20 – 27  TLB]

What is Christian Leadership

Christian leadership is the discipline or process of deliberately influencing people by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Four Important Factors of Christian Leadership

1. The Leader

The leader is very important in leadership but not the most important. In Christian leadership, the leader is seen as the servant of the people he/she is called to lead. Servant in the sense of service. Serving the people does not reduce or make the leader a lesser person in the group, but establishes him/her as a point of reference to others. The leader will influence his/her group more by serving them.

N/b – But among you, the one who serves you best will be your leader. [Luke 22:26 TLB] .

As a leader, the degree/quality of your leadership is in the people you positively influence by the wisdom the Holy Spirit makes available to you.

2. The People or Group

The people or group are the most important factor in leadership. The words of John Maxwell put in my own words – if you say you’re leading with nobody following you, you’re just taking a walk. Leadership is to a great extent about the people.

3. The Vision or Goal

When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful. [Prov 29:18  NLT].

The vision/goal is the purpose or the heart of leadership. Vision is also Divine Guidance that helps a leader achieve purpose.

4. The Strategy

It is the methods a leader employs to achieve his/her vision of positively influencing the people within his/her sphere of leadership.

The Four Cs of Christian Leadership

1. Calling

[Doing what God has called you to do or what God wants you to do on this earth as long as you live].

2. Competence

[Developing your God given abilities, to be good at what you do. Been good at your calling].

3. Confidence

[Absolute trust in the Holy Spirit as the source of strength and vision to be a great leader].

4. Character

[Developing godly values system, that will sustain your leadership development/achievement’s].
